In The Netherlands we have over 37,500 web stores. Fashion chains, travel agencies, bookstores and many other company types want a digital store alongside their High-street locations. In addition, many individuals start their own independent online stores. This high amount of online stores is set to increase even higher to a massive 50,000 online shops. There is a common misconception that if a shop goes online, the orders automatically start flooding in. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Managing a store takes time and investments, online or offline.

Developments are moving quickly. The ‘WebShop Vakdagen’ on the 25th and 26th of January was extremely busy. The audience was a diverse mix ranging from managers of large chain stores and private visitors from small stores. It was great to see such variation. During Vakdagen the most important sectors under discussion were: Logistics, Social Media, Marketing and Programs. The presentations were very popular, so much so that there were not enough seats for all the visitors. The speakers were insured the audiences’ recognition with a standing ovation.

Companies that have just started a webshop were able to get lots of tips and tricks to help kick start their business. Useful advice was also available for the more experienced shop owners that were present. Market developments are of course a must as well as the ability to respond quickly. Google Analytics and Adwords were important issues. Who are your visitors and how do you reach them? Your store can have the most beautiful layout, offering original and unique product but if you don’t make yourself findable then you are literally stuck in the middle of nowhere. Online Publisher can provide a beautiful magazine for store owners that links directly to your site.

WebShop Vakdagen was a great inspiration for Online Publisher. It was interesting to meet people with an entrepreneurial vision and insight. We managed to explain our concept well. Daisy Meekes, working as sales manager since December 1st, seized the opportunity to meet with customers and interested parties. Online Publisher’s interactive features offer interesting opportunities. Research shows that more people view a website with a tablet or a smartphone. It is important to ensure that your site is ready for this trend. Online Publisher has the tools for this!

The WebShop Vakdagen was a success for Online Publisher. We were able to present our company well thanks to the TV screen rented from DIF media (www.difmedia.nl). They have everything you need to perfect your live events.
